Cozy

Great Mountain Ln – even the name of the road is epic!
The views getting here were fantastic!

I’ve never lived in a log cabin, but I’ve wanted to. It’s definitely intriguing. I’ve worked in one – kind of. The lifestyle is definitely inviting and the location is usually extremely epic and sometimes cinematic. There’s just one thing that always gets in the way. Winter.

My wife wants to retire in a location with “fewer seasons” than where we are now. Currently we have 4 fairly equal seasons. I’ve started making the comment that if we move north, we’d have at least 2 fewer seasons. Who am I kidding? Not too deep down I know I don’t want that.

So I’ll just resign myself to fantasizing about that lifestyle and look back on over a decade of real estate photography in some pretty epic locations.

Enjoy.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Snow wraps the log home,
The hearth’s glowing too.
Pines stand still,
Cold nights feel heavenly,
Warmth beats the weather—
I’d rather chase seventy.

From The Top

A view I grew up with near Harrisonburg – Reddish Knob.  Road this mountain many times.  By the way, hope you enjoy the new look.

American Flyers

This picture reminds me of American Flyers (you know, the movie).  It reminds me of the part in the movie where they’ve arrived at the big race out west and the sun is rising on the first day.  I know, I know.  If you know the area, you’d know that this is a sunset.  But it still reminds me of the movie.

Click and Go

I’m really trying to be more efficient when it comes to editing images (and everything else, for that matter, to do with photography) just to improve my workflow.  I can honestly say that I’ve spent upwards of hours editing a single image.  I have to get more efficient with that.  Lightroom can do some heavy lifting when it comes to editing and I’m trying not to always end up in Photoshop because not every image needs it.  So I’m trying to create single and, possibly, multiple single one-click presets that can get the job done.  This is a photo from back in the Fall of 2012 with two “stacked” presets (2 clicks) in Lightroom.
