National Treasure

Visiting the US national parks is like stepping into the country’s soul—each one a living postcard of breathtaking beauty. From the mist rising over the Grand Canyon at sunrise to the ancient time gone by that makes us ponder what, or who, used to be here, the parks remind us that the greatest treasures aren’t man-made but carved by time, wind, and water. Whether you’re hiking a rugged trail, stargazing under skies away from any light pollution, or simply sitting still to let nature’s soundtrack consume you, the experience is a humbling reminder of the vast and varied beauty this country has to offer.

There’s one park, however, that has no business being a national park. Take a guess.

At Least He Cleaned Up His Mess

It’s not every day that an opportunity lands in your front yard and says “photograph me while I rid Old Town Winchester of a black squirrel.”  This is what makes me envious of those people who have fields and forests in their back yards.  But it was cool and weird when it happened on a main street in town.  At least he cleaned up his mess.

Unfortunately I had to shoot these images through double-paned glass so they’re not as sharp as they could be.

Meanie

We put a birdhouse right outside our kitchen window and it’s been fascinating to watch the action and interactions.  Turns out that the woodpecker is a big ole meanie!

I know it may not look like it here, but that woodpecker started it. I saw it.

Wildlife

Enjoying some quality time at the beach.  I figured I’d shoot the sunrise a little differently this morning.

It’s been a while since I did a video here so enjoy.

The Funshine State

We’ve renamed the Florida state nickname to the “Funshine” state.  Just so you know.  That is all.

Duck Hunt

Duck HuntI took Waldo (my awesome dog) to the park today for our morning walk.  As always, I brought my camera.  But the day was dreary and there was a little bit of snow (not enough to look any good) so I wasn’t sure what kinds of photos I’d get.  Then we kind of stumbled on the ducks.  So I put all my gear down and get into a shooting stance (more like an awkward squat) to shoot some ducks.

I suddenly hear a massive fluttering underneath me (I was perched on a bridge).  I almost dropped my camera, but then had to laugh because Waldo had discovered his inner hunting dog!  It was awesome – not the picture, but the moment.
