It’s Only Tuesday, It’s Snowing and I Don’t Have My Selfie Stick!

I’m amazed that this is only our second day in the parks – we’ve done so much already this week and a great deal of it has nothing to do with Disney.  Ya see, we’re selling our house and closing while we’re down here.  Geez.  Thank goodness we have a kick-ass realtor!  Anyway, I’ve been itching to get up in the air to shoot some awesome photos, but I’m more than slightly concerned about the Disney no-fly zone.  I’ve checked, and our hotel is outside the 3-mile radius, but still…ya know?  And I’ve only taken my good equipment into the parks once – to Hollywood Studios for the fireworks.  Didn’t get a really good angle, but still a great show.  So most of my images have been with my GoPro, which isn’t a bad camera, but it won’t shoot RAW – BOO – anybody at GoPro reading this? 😉  And yes, Disney has now banned all selfie sticks.  They even have pamphlets about it!  BOO – anybody at Disney reading this?  I can actually understand that rule, but I’m not the idiot who’d do something stupid with it.  It’s everybody else :P.

I have an awesome photo in mind that I'm still going to try to get before the end of the week - fingers crossed!

Tradition

Let me start by saying that this is, in no way, a judgmental post.  I suppose It doesn’t really bother me that much, but I know it does bother some people.  So take it with a grain of salt and calm down – I’m not on a soapbox here.  No, this post is intended to simply show it from a new and pretty cool perspective.

You can usually spot these “graffiti” markings on the roads of Winchester just after high school graduation. Do you have this in your town?

Travel

So it’s time to start traveling with the aerial rig.  I’m starting to think that my galleries are getting a little saturated with Winchester images (makes sense, right?).  Anyway, I know this isn’t very far from me, but it’s a start.  I recently shot some aerial footage for the town of Front Royal and, as always, I grabbed some stills while I was up there.  Gonna see if I can snag a Disney panorama while we’re in Florida this year.

Front Royal

It’s been a while since I’ve “framed” one of my images, but this one fits the bill. My goal is to do this up and down the valley with as many towns as possible…a little local traveling. | Order a print of this image.

My View

I hope you’re able to get out there and enjoy the holiday weekend.  Our fireworks display in Winchester was tonight.  This was my first “official” shooting flight from my house and I’m diggin’ my view!  I wish I could have gotten just a little bit closer to the fireworks so they don’t come off looking so small, but I was already 1200 feet away from my launch site and at my max ceiling.  I suppose it’s not so bad because I didn’t have to leave my back yard.
